Course Description: This session will explore the principles and implementation of trauma-informed care in the long-term care (LTC) setting. Attendees will learn to recognize signs of trauma, create a supportive environment, and apply strategies to enhance the emotional and psychological well-being of residents. Emphasis will be on integrating trauma-informed care practices into daily routines to provide compassionate and effective care.

Projected Learning Outcomes/Course Objectives: At the conclusion of this session, the learner will:

  1. Understand the key principles of trauma-informed care.
  2. Identify signs and symptoms of trauma in residents.
  3. Implement strategies to create a trauma-sensitive environment.
  4. Apply trauma-informed care practices in daily interactions with residents.
  5. Evaluate the impact of trauma-informed care on resident well-being.
