Event Detail

DEADLINE TO REGISTER FOR THIS COURSE IS October 12, 2022

This hybrid course is designed to provide you with everything necessary to earn a certificate as an Adult Care Home Operator in the State of Kansas.   The class is based on the principles of assisted living as outlined in the KDADS regulation manual and is taught by a variety of presenters that are currently working in the field.  The course will be facilitated by Joan Hudson, KCAL Clinical Consultant and Polly Berkley, VP of Operations and Education for KHCA/KCAL. This course provides knowledge and insight on the rules, regulations and responsibilities governing the operation of a state licensed only adult care home.  The course fee includes a minimum of 45 hours of instruction, electronic program handout materials (to print if you wish) and a printed Operators manual which will be mailed to the address that you provide when you register.  The KDADS registration fee is not included in the fee for this course. (The KDADS fee is pro-rated and at most would be $65.) The test for this course must be completed in person.  Scheduling options will be made available to you during the course. The exam for this course is scheduled for November 1, 2022 at the KHCA/KCAL Office in Topeka.

This course offering from KCAL was formerly held in person for 6 days (with the weekend in the middle).  The virtual option will be very similar and will require full dedication during the day.  Many sessions are recorded, but 9 am daily class meetings are a required part of the course.  YOU MUST have a CAMERA/VIDEO option on your computer to participate in these daily class get togethers.  It is highly recommended that the recorded sessions be completed by the end of each day to maximize learning in the daily class meeting the following morning.  A computer with internet, audio and video is required to take this course as is a valid email address that is checked frequently.  9:00 - 10:00 am meetings will be on the following days.  These meeting will be held Via Microsoft Teams and are REQUIRED.  If these live meetings are not attended you will not be able to sit for the exam.
